Peck and Craig held on. The landmark restaurant is now open again and serving the community of Jacks

Located off Heckscher Drive, near the St. Johns River ferry, Peck has managed the popular restaurant and Jacksonville landmark for almost 13 years. Built in the early 50 s, the Sandollar profited off the growing shrimp market across the river at Mayport. Over the years it became a popular destination for Jacksonville locals.
The flames spread through the ceiling. Fire engulfed the roof and attic. The employees gathered the restaurant s customers and evacuated the building. candy jars for wedding Firefighters rushed to put out the flames, but much of the damage was already done. The total cost of the damage was estimated at around $300,000. The Sandollar was forced to close for eight months.
For the first time in 13 years Peck found herself without a job, her future uncertain. No one knew if the restaurant would ever open again. It took Peck three weeks to find another job after the Sandollar closed.
The prospects after Sandollar burned down were kind of bleak at first it was right towards the end of my last semester of college, and this was my income. I had rent to pay, and the last thing you want to be thinking about during your final semester of college is where am I going to live, Craig said.
Peck and Craig held on. The landmark restaurant is now open again and serving the community of Jacksonville. An official reopening party is scheduled for sometime next month. As for Peck, she is just thankful to be working again. candy jars for wedding

Hi everyone! My name is Angela and I m excited to be a style contributor here at Sugar Bee Crafts. At my blog, Handmade in the Heartland, I show recipes, crafts and DIY projects, home decor ideas, lots of dessert recipes and the occasional fashion post. I d love for you to pop over and see my blog. Today I m excited to share this polymer clay sand dollar necklace that is easy to make and perfect for the end of summer! I love anything nautical so when I spotted the shell mod podge mold at michael’s I knew I had to do something with it!
I had fun playing around how to display seashells with the mold I purchased how to display seashells and making how to display seashells a lot of the different shells, In the end I decided to use the sand dollar. When working with polymer clay you’ll how to display seashells want to work with it in your hands for few minute and warm it up first, then push it into the mold. When I pulled it out I had excess on the sides of the shape so I used my tools to cut the excess off. After you get the shape you want you’ll bake it according to the package directions.
I went for super easy this time and just used 7 strands of waxed cord. The clamp clasp closure is SO simple, just lay your cord flat and then clamp it on. I purchased the clasp at Michael’s but I’ve seen them everywhere that a jewelry section is present, even Walmart. You can put the closures on before you put the sand dollar on.
So I don’t know what this knot is called, which is super annoying, sorry! All you do is fold your necklace in half and stick the folded center through the whole in your pendant, once its on the other side of the pendant open it up (so its not folded anymore) and then stick the rest of the necklace through the loop. Pull to tighten and Voila! your necklace is finished.

Heading over to the beaches by Little Talbot island anytime soon? My favorite place to cap off a relaxing day at the beach is the nearby Sandollar restaurant. industrie rat They offer a wide selection of surf and turf for any size appetite, but I usually go for the seafood.
Their blackened scallops were great, cooked perfectly, but I believe most of their fried items, like clams, onion rings, and shrimp are frozen, not fresh. Disappointing, but what can you do? Hush puppies come with nearly everything and they’re very tasty. industrie rat
Good luck deciding what to get, because no matter what you order, industrie rat you will assuredly see someone else’s heaping plate of yummy looking food go by, leaving you wishing you could try a little bit of everything!
The inside of the restaurant is nice, but I like sitting out on the back deck because it’s right on the water and you can enjoy a cool breeze while watching jet skiers, sailboats, and huge cargo boats go by. Every time we’ve been there they’ve had live bands playing music outside, although the last time we were there they spent over a hour doing sound check instead of actually playing anything. It was amusing nonetheless. ;)
The prices seem on par with any run of the mill seafood joint in FL so be prepared to fork out some cash. There also seems to be somewhat of a dress code there, so don’t go wandering in in just a bikini. But even you did, they’d probably let you sit outside. industrie rat
The only negative I really noticed this time around was that my glass of ice water tasted funny, like it had come out of a moldy, plastic water tank. I recommend getting bottled water if that kind of thing matters to you like it does to me.
