I have this dilemma to be solved. We assume that I just bought a head Manfrotto 327RC2 (0,62Kg) and can not figure out which of the two tripod take. For me they are almost identical except seashells for the obvious differences here below: http: //www.manfrotto..._serie_190_nero http: //www.manfrotto..._serie_055_nero - dimensions when closed 57cm (190XPROB) 65.5cm (055XPROB) to transport much better the 190. - Maximum height 146cm (190XPROB) 178.5cm (055XPROB) a greater height for the 055 - Load capacity 5kg (190XPROB) 7kg (055XPROB) obviously 055 - Weight 1.8kg (190XPROB) 2.4kg (055XPROB) 190 all life miserable From my analysis of these two tripods, I wanted seashells an opinion and a help from you on what to do, so any advice very welcome. Thanks Rob
The differences seashells did you mentioned yourself ... depends on your needs (to see if you need a considerable height) and your equipment (for the maximum possible load). You have, now or a prediction, equipment that exceed 5kg? Obviously calculated by combining the possibilities (body + optical heavier + flash + accessories heavier heavy) and calculates the total Senn I'd put on the height. Incidentally, in the case of macro, the tripod should be fine thanks to the tilting column.

I currently have a 600d, elobiettivo heavier I have the 70-200 f4 is so we are around 1.5 kg, well below the weight of both. I confirm both have the column inclined. The weight and size are the two features that I care about +, so I like the idea of having 30cm more but it's worth it for 0.6 kg of difference?
Prudently the scope of a stand must be at least double the weight of the equipment that must withstand. The Manfrotto 055XPROB tripod extremely robust although obviously weighs. And 'suitable for use "Heavy duty" especially outdoors where f assert its quality. The 190's younger seashells brother and a logically p less sized but in any case sufficient for your equipment.
I have the 190XPROB and safely use the 5DII + 70-200 f4 is + flash 430ex2. It 'very robust and quite handy to take it back. Maximum height, estimated that you need to add the head (in my case the 498rc2 12cm), and the camera. So quietly exceed 160cm in height! However they are both excellent, and the choice must be made only according to your needs!
Today I went to the shop and fortunately were exposed both x luck. So after about 30min of open, stretch your legs and a thousand other tests I decided for the 190. It seems a good compromise between weight and technique, then I must say often go out and take it into a backpack so less weight and better. Thanks x to x all the answers I think I get it on amazon to 127 if someone sees him tell me unless .. Good light at all ..
And 'quite unlikely that you are taking with equipment that exceed 5kg. In any case, the real difference between the two most significant trestles obviously their weight. It makes the 055 more awkward seashells to carry, but at the same time more stable, even with equipment from a pound and a half. However, the increased stability becomes seashells really appreciable only when using very long lenses, say over 400mm. The concern seashells about the height I understand much less: since c 'live view, with tripod use only that, with the grid for alignments overlay. You work comfortably even to 1.40 in height.
