F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel "The Great Gatsby" has had to put up with many a film adaptation over the years. With its story of love, desperation and (in) fidelity in the exuberant party life in New York in the 20's, the novel gained Hollywood crescore capital cuttings to rub his hands for nearly seven decades.
The film starts in a therapy session with an alcoholic and hardened Toby Maguire, who tells us the action through an excess cliché full voice-over. "The Great Gatsby" is a film that truly cultivates the delicate melodrama, in such a degree that Luhrmann & co. takes up two and a half hours to tell a pretty standard love story.
The film is certainly a lively and colorful jazz fest the first half hour, but when in the middle section removes all the jazz room and the beautiful costumes, one is left with very little other than boredom and nose picking. crescore capital
